Jaco Els Services Pty Ltd (Private Company, Reg. No. 2022 / 239437 / 07), 145 Riesling Crescent, Wellington, 7655 ("we", "us") is the responsible party under POPIA for the PaceItForward platform. This notice explains how we collect and use personal information.

1. What we collect

• Athletes: name, contact details, profile photo, race details, charity details, social links, pledge tiers.
• Supporters: name, email, message, pledge amounts per tier.
• General: basic device data and cookies (see our Cookie Notice).

2. How we use it

• Operate the platform (publish athlete pages, generate pledge tiers, send confirmations and updates).
• Administer registrations and respond to queries.
• Send optional updates if you subscribe (you can unsubscribe at any time).
• Security, troubleshooting, analytics, and compliance with law.

3. Legal bases

We process information with consent (for example, subscriptions and publishing athlete profiles), to perform our service, and for legitimate interests (security and analytics). You can withdraw consent at any time.

4. Sharing

• Public athlete profiles display the information the athlete provides.
• We may share pledge summaries with the relevant athlete and charity. We do not process or collect card payments.
• Service providers (for example, Google Workspace/Apps Script/Sheets) acting under our instructions.
• Disclosures required by law.

5. Cross-border transfers

Your data may be processed outside South Africa (for example, by Google). We take reasonable steps consistent with POPIA to protect it when transferred.

6. Retention

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law. You can request deletion, subject to legal limits.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may request access, correction, deletion, or object to processing. To exercise these rights, email info@paceitforward.org. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa).

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures (access controls, least privilege, audit logs). No system is 100% secure.
